Choosing My Contribution
One of the first decisions during the WordPress Credits Program was selecting a contribution team. After reviewing the available options, I chose the Polyglots team because I wanted to contribute by translating WordPress into Spanish (Costa Rica).
I found this project interesting because language plays an important role in making technology accessible to more people. Translating interface strings helps users understand WordPress more easily and improves the experience for Spanish-speaking communities.
This project also allowed me to experience how open-source communities organize their work and collaborate on a global scale.
What I Learned
I learned that contributing to an open-source project is not limited to programming. Translation, documentation, design, testing, and many other types of contributions are equally valuable for the growth of the community.
